Bedroom Makeover: Getting Started

Quite a while back, I posted about my bedroom.
You can read it here.
We were in desperate need of a makeover.
Well, that post was as far as I got for a long time.
That's not entirely true.
I've been thinking.
And that is a good place to start.

Because, if you've been thinking about the colors, patterns, textures and things you want in your room, you'll be ready to pounce when you see these pillow cases on major clearance at Anthroplogie.
Because they look like they were made to go with your current bedding.

Those pillow cases were the start of the bedroom makeover.
We've finally begun.
And though the bed is all we've done so far, it is the focal point of the room, so I say we're in good shape.

I took Heather's advice and took down our old wrought iron bed stand. Even though I was sad to see it go, for sentimental reasons only, I was happy with the clean look of just a bed frame.

Then I added more texture to the bed with this modern looking quilt I have been loving for months.  It's from Target and I wanted it, but I didn't have a reason to get it yet.  So glad I waited cause I got it on clearance!
I also added 2 new pillows for my sweet new cases and stacked the old shams behind them.  I like the look.  It is fuller, more luxurious and less matchy.

Now we really need to work on a headboard.
It's feeling a little empty up there.
See:

Here are a few ideas I found floating around the Internet.
This one is bold, simple, clean and graphic.
All things I like.

This one is really whimsical and fun.  It makes me smile.

This one is my favorite.
The colors, the different textures and types of art that somehow all work together.
And those chairs help a lot, too.
Swoon.

Still on the list after we figure out the headboard situation, are window coverings, a vanity (sitting in the garage waiting to be painted by moi) art (we found some lovely drawings we forgot we had that will look perfect in there) and reading lamps.
There is still a lot to do.
But it feels good to get started.

What are you working on these days?

Love from,
Greta

I like it already...the room does look bigger without the iron bedstead. I like the idea of the solid color art, or the large grouping of different kinds of art pieces. Are the pictures your had forgotten those black and white pictures the one ones you bought in France?

Ooo! I lovelovelove those new pillowcases! Don't you just love a good Anthro clearance score? I fell in love with my bedding at Anthro but it was roughly $300! One day, while popping in on a whim, I happened upon my set in a Cal king size duvet and shams for $39!
Love the last picture. It's very you.

i think your bed looks divine! i love the colors of the bedding with the wall color. i'm excited to see the other things you've got to add to the space. all your inspiration photos are so great and i don't think you could go wrong with one of them.
